well, this morning I switched on the radio and the news headlines came on, and what was the top story? Kylie Minogue has canceled her australian tour because she has been diagnosed with early breast cancer. Now the fact she has breast cancer is of course terrible, and I'm sure all her fans wish her well, but seriously, where are our priorities that the health of some pop icon have made it on to the number 1 news story on the bbc!

Hhmm the fact that she will have to go through chemotherapy and invasive surgery is not a priority if she can persuade just 1 young woman with a suspect lump to visit her doctor then Kylie will possibly have saved,a life!.

And as she is an major role model for self conscious teenage girls and young women, the way in which she handles this devestating news will have a big impact on women already suffering from the disease. If she shows courage and a real determination to recover, then they will take strength from that, and inner strength is vital in beating cancer,as the disease thrives on negativity....

oh yeh you're absolutely right, and I don't take that away from her, it just hit me that she was the top headline, and it wasn't, kylie minogue has been diagnosed with breast Cancer, it was Kylie minogue has cancelled her australian tour, and only then did they reveal why.

Yes I am and the newsreader would have been briefed to ease gently into the reason for the cancellation,so people would not switch off, at the 1st mention of cancer...

Oh god, you should see how the aussie press are all over it! First Delta, now Kilie, it's like they're proud of it! Like having pop icons go through kemo is good national PR. Of course, any increased awareness of breast cancer can only be a good thing, but the way they've jumped on it is a little sickening...

it's not the cancer awareness they've been talking about over here either though! it's .. how wonderful kylie is, how she's made it to stardom against all the odds ... in fact the way they're talking you'd think she'd already died.

It reminds me of Schumacher's crash at Silverstone where he suffered a broken leg to listen to some comentators you would think he had a fatal injury...

I wonder if the sensationalist reaction of the press to KM's illness, will have the opposite effect and prevent women who have found a suspect lump, from coming forward. It's almost as if the cancer has achieved celebrity status I'm sickened by their feeding frenzy and wish KM all the best...
